Flash technologies for viewing of video in Internet become more and more popular.
How does video is compressed when operating with Flash?
From version 8 you can use 3 different types of video coding, they are the following:
- Sorenson H.263
- Screen Video
- On2 VP6
Sorenson H.263
That type is based on H263 technology, and it is a kind of MPEG-4 video coding. Such format is more commonly used, supported by all Flesh players and gives sufficiently good image quality. Use that format if you are not sure that all who want to see your video will have the latest update for Flesh player
Screen Video
In general case such type of coding is not for making WEB video. Based on ZIM compression, that codec can be used for coding of screenshots or static video with small changes.
It is mainly for creating different types of presentations, where high quality of detail's representation, such as text, for example, and small (not local) changes of background are required.
On2 VP6
Current type is a new coding type, has closed format, gives very good quality of video coding.
However it is included in Flesh only from version 8, so, to play video, coded with that codec type, you need player supporting Flash 8. Use that format if quality of Video is important for you, and you have the latest version of Flesh.
Detailed information on that coding type you can find on producer's site: http://www.on2.com/
VideoCharge and Watermark Master support all listed above coding types.
