I was thinking about upgrade my workstation, so I wonder what is the best CPU would be better for the best VCS performance?

I'm not aware if VCS supports multi core CPUs ... but I choose between:

1. Intel Core i7-2600K @ 3.40GHz
2. Intel Core i7 975 @ 3.33GHz
3. Intel Core i7 990X @ 3.47GHz - really wonder if it's worth it Smile

Is it better to run VCS on 32 or 64 bits OS?

Is there any suggestion? I'd really appreciate any help.

Even though 64 bit system will have more RAM on board? I mean will more RAM help VCS do its job better?

RAM has small influence for productivity.
The major thing is CPU.

Upgrade is done.
VCS gives load on Intel Core i7-2600K @ 3.40GHz as shown on pic below:

The CPU is loaded only on ~40%, the second core works almost on 100%. Looks weird Smile

I wonder why VCS doesn't use all cores on maximum?
And maybe there is any way to start second copy of VCS on the same server? Maybe in this case it will be possible to load CPU on 100% ...

Hi.

Video encoding process includes not only math operations, but data moving also. Also OS uses some CPU time.
Therefor CPU isn't loaded on 100% while encoding.

Ok.

But what about my second question about running second copy of VCS in the same time? Is it possible somehow?

You may try it on your system and look at the result.
We didn't do any special things for it.
