Using "Best Frame" option for thumbnail creation extracted a black frame from one of my videos. Maybe thumbnail creation can be enhanced to avoid things like this?

Yes, creation of the "Best Frame" is an experimental method yet, we'll certainly advance it. Now it's based on creation of a thumbnail out of the most static (motionless) image. For parts of a clip that contain black frames this method doesn't fit. In this case we recommend to create thumbs out of the first frame or manually.
